KORNBLAU LAW
When medical care leaves unanswered questions
Kornblau Law represents patients and families in Philadelphia who have suffered serious harm after medical care. Led by Adam Kornblau, “The Medmal Guy,” the firm investigates questions about diagnosis, hospital treatment, surgery, medication, and other care.
A difficult outcome deserves an explanation. Whether it supports a legal claim depends on the evidence: the care that should have been provided, what happened, and whether a departure caused harm.
Our main office is at 101 Old York Rd., Suite 300, Jenkintown, PA 19046. We serve Philadelphia and Montgomery County. Call 215-701-4467 for a free consultation.

How a case review begins
Start with the part of the story that does not make sense to you. A patient’s condition changed, a test result went unanswered, or the explanation after surgery did not account for what happened next.
We begin by identifying the providers, approximate dates, and injury. If we agree to investigate, the review may include medical records, a treatment timeline, and opinions from appropriately qualified medical experts.
What to have ready
- A short timeline: appointments, admissions, procedures, transfers, and discharge dates.
- The providers involved: include hospitals, offices, and follow-up care.
- What changed: describe the injury and its effect on daily life.
- Information you already have: discharge papers, portal messages, and relevant records.
You can contact us before you have collected every document. Please start with a brief summary; we can discuss how to provide records if a review proceeds.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will the first conversation cover?
We will ask what happened, when it happened, who provided care, and how the patient was harmed. Tell us what remains unexplained and whether the patient needs ongoing care. You do not need to identify the precise legal theory before contacting us.
How much does a consultation cost?
The initial consultation is free. Kornblau Law handles these matters on a contingency-fee basis. If we agree to represent you, the written fee agreement will explain the attorney’s fee and responsibility for case expenses. Ask us to explain any term before signing.
Do you represent people treated in Philadelphia?
Yes. Kornblau Law represents patients and families with concerns about medical care in Philadelphia. The firm’s main office is in Jenkintown, Montgomery County. Tell us if the treatment involved providers in more than one county so the review can consider the full sequence of care.
What is my medical malpractice case worth?
There is no reliable value to assign before reviewing liability, causation, and the losses supported by the evidence. The injury, future care needs, lost earnings, available proof, and other case-specific factors may affect an evaluation. Past case results do not predict the result in a new matter.
Does a bad medical outcome mean malpractice occurred?
No. A bad outcome alone does not establish medical negligence. A review must consider whether the provider departed from an applicable professional standard and whether that departure caused harm. Relevant medical records and appropriately qualified expert opinions often help address those questions.
What is a Pennsylvania certificate of merit?
Under Pennsylvania Rule 1042.3, the certificate is signed by the attorney or an unrepresented plaintiff. Depending on the basis of the claim, an appropriate licensed professional supplies a supporting written opinion. That opinion is distinct from the certificate filed with the court. The rule sets filing requirements and addresses different types of claims.
How soon should I speak with a lawyer?
Contact a lawyer promptly. Pennsylvania generally applies a two-year limitation to negligence-based injury and death claims under 42 Pa.C.S. § 5524, but calculating the deadline requires the facts and applicable law. Do not assume that a general website explanation gives the deadline for your claim.
How long will the investigation or lawsuit take?
The timing depends on obtaining records, expert availability, the medical and legal issues, and the court’s schedule if a case is filed. Some matters end after an initial review; others require extended litigation. We can discuss the next steps as the facts become clearer.
