the beginnings
Kornblau Law’s Beginnings
Coming out of law school, I was torn between starting my practice in New York City, where I had studied, or returning home to the Philadelphia area to join the firm my parents had established and successfully led for many years. In the end, I chose to join the family practice—a decision that proved to be a blessing in disguise, as it afforded me the invaluable opportunity to work alongside my father, Jeffrey Kornblau, one of the preeminent trial attorneys of his time, before his untimely passing.
During that period, I not only witnessed but learned from his skill as an attorney and firm manager firsthand. I observed his style, the way he connected with clients and staff, the way he commanded a room, and how he analyzed cases with precision. His ability to box in a defense witness during cross-examination and his deep care for every client he represented left a lasting impression on me. To this day, I still use some of the expressions he would share with clients.
After his passing, I was thrust into a role larger than most attorneys face so early in their careers.
By age 26, I had tried my first case to a verdict. At 27, I was personally overseeing and responsible for more than 50 cases, some of which were of substantial value. At 28, I tried my first medical malpractice case. By 31, I was managing the firm—devising case strategies, overseeing complex litigation, conducting in-depth case analyses, and upholding the client-centered approach that my family instilled in me and that continues to be the hallmark of Kornblau Law.
